The goal of America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits is to allow seniors and homebound persons to live independently while having access to high quality medical care and the latest medical innovations.
America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits is a Chicago home based medical practice founded in 1989 providing primary care providers. Those who take advantage of our services benefit from personal home visits from licensed physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, podiatrists, and dietitians in the comfort and privacy of their own homes.
The goal of America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits is to allow seniors and homebound persons to live independently while having access to high quality medical care and the latest medical innovations. Over the years, social workers, hospitals, home health agencies, and discharge planners have consistently referred their clients and patients to us because we have gained such a strong reputation. We believe that the efforts of our organization can be the answer to many homebound seniors who currently are not receiving the necessary care or who reside unnecessarily in prohibitively expensive nursing homes.
Our organization provides a variety of senior services and can help provide not only necessary medical care, but also can be a great resource. Upon initial examination, if necessary, one of our providers can order such auxiliary medical services as blood tests, X-rays, Echocardiograms, and Doppler studies, all of which are preformed in the patient’s house. We can also arrange to have the necessary medical equipment and supplies like wheelchairs, hospital beds, blood glucose monitors, nebulizers, oxygen, etc. delivered to patients’ home. Additionally, America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits can make arrangements to have nurses, homemakers, podiatrists, social workers and physical therapists service our patients in accordance with each patient’s individual needs and doctor’s recommendation.
America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits services also financially benefit the state. Unlike nursing homes which are financed by state dollars, almost all of our services are paid for by the federally funded Medicare program. Thus, not only is our organization providing a much needed service to seniors, but our services do not cost the state. Home visits by physicians have also been found to “reduce hospitalizations, length of stay, and emergency department visits.”
For so many seniors nursing homes do not represent the best solution. In fact, many would prefer to remain at home and maintain their independence. Furthermore, many seniors do not need to be institutionalized and the nursing home environment is not guaranteed to be healthy or safe. The Nursing Home Hotline of the Illinois Department of Health receives nearly 19,000 calls each year and responds to over 5,000 complaints.
A sensible solution is necessary to address the healthcare needs of our aging population. Let’s work together in reaching out to the senior citizens of Illinois. America’s Disabled Physician Home Visits is ready to help meet the needs of Illinois’ senior citizens.
